“We now accept the fact that learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn.” — Peter Drucker

This wonderful quote has brought a paradigm shift in the way I look at learning. More than teaching any subject, we must focus on teaching the young ones how to learn. That is a universal approach and has an extra edge over the traditional thought, limiting learning to a particular topic.

Learning ideally outlives a human being and any discrepancy in the same is an opportunity wasted. At Delhi Public School, Gwalior, we are committed to cultivate a fondness for learning, every single day. No today should be the same as yesterday, there must be something new added to the repository. Learning not only makes us a better person, it also gives us an opportunity to pass on a lot more to the society.

“I am always ready to learn although I do not always like being taught.” — Winston Churchill

I chose to borrow this quote from Winston Churchill to remind all of us that we might not always prefer to be taught but, as human beings, we do enjoy learning. Hence, our focus, as teachers and as parents, should be to create an environment that best suits learning. With the onset of technology, there are ways and tools that have changed the way learning happens and the whole concept of self learning is at an all time high.

Also, creativity is imperative in today’s world full of alternatives. This is an age of options and we must find the most creative ways to educate and motivate the young ones. Learning thrives on creativity and often results in astonishing outcomes.

I wish the students, teachers and parents all the very best and hope that they adopt a learning bent of mind for themselves and the generations to come.
